A 59-year-old man was injured in a house fire in the Jardim Primavera neighborhood of Alta Floresta, Brazil. The incident occurred while the man was performing welding work on a gate in an outdoor area.
According to reports, a short circuit in an electrical extension cord used to power the welding machine caused sparks to ignite a sofa located near the power source. In an attempt to save the furniture from the flames, the man was struck by the fire, resulting in second-degree burns on his left hand and arm, as well as first-degree burns on his face. He also experienced respiratory difficulties, intense coughing, and excessive salivation due to smoke inhalation.
Neighbors assisted in controlling the flames with hoses and buckets before the Fire Department arrived. Military firefighters performed a cooling process to prevent reignition and removed the charred furniture from the residence, which was unoccupied at the time of the fire. The victim was transported to a local Urgent Care Unit (UPA) for medical evaluation.
