Alta Valpolcevera mayors protest Amt transport service cuts

Mayors in the Alta Valpolcevera region have launched a political challenge against proposed service cuts to the Amt mobility and transport company. In an open letter, administrators from Campomorone, Ceranesi, Mignanego, Sant’Olcese, and Serra Riccò expressed concerns that reducing bus routes in hilly and inland areas will disproportionately affect elderly citizens, students, and workers who rely on public transit as their primary alternative to private vehicles.

Claudio Montaldo, the mayor of Mignanego, has called for a shared emergency plan involving the Municipality, the Region, the Metropolitan City, and trade unions. While acknowledging the company's financial crisis, the mayors argue that the current method of defining cuts is flawed and risks creating a rift between Genoa and its surrounding territories. The political dispute has also drawn criticism from the Democratic Party, which pointed to Marco Bucci as responsible for the crisis.
