Altadena residents report return of 550-pound bear

A 550-pound black bear, identified as ‘Yellow 2120’, has returned to the Altadena neighborhood in Los Angeles. The bear was recently spotted inside the crawlspace of a residence on Minoru Drive.

Homeowners attempted to deter the animal using security cameras, loud music, and a leaf blower, but the bear remained in the space until it eventually left on its own. The residents have since sealed the crawlspace to prevent further entry.

Yellow 2120 is a known local bear that previously spent significant time living under homes in the area during late 2025. Experts suggest the bear and other wildlife may be roaming the community due to habitat loss caused by the Eaton Fire, which scorched parts of the Angeles National Forest in early 2025. The California Department of Fish and Wildlife has been notified, and residents are advised to contact authorities if the bear is sighted.
