Altamira implements QR code technology for market inspections
The government of Altamira, Tamaulipas, has implemented a new electronic payment system using QR codes for mobile markets to prevent irregular collections. José Aurelio González, Director of Markets, stated that authorized inspectors will now use electronic devices connected directly to the Municipal Treasury system. This measure ensures that every payment is recorded and an immediate receipt is provided to merchants.
The initiative follows reports of individuals impersonating inspectors to collect unauthorized fees. To ensure transparency, merchants are encouraged to verify that inspectors are carrying official electronic devices before making payments. Currently, five inspectors are operating with this technology across approximately 31 mobile markets in the region.
