Alteogen signs up to $3.2B licensing deal with Novartis

Alteogen has entered into an option and licensing agreement with Novartis to develop and commercialize subcutaneous (SC) formulations for multiple products using its proprietary ALT-B4 technology. ALT-B4, powered by the Hybrozyme platform, is a recombinant human hyaluronidase that allows intravenous (IV) biologics to be administered via more convenient and rapid subcutaneous injections by temporarily degrading hyaluronan in the extracellular matrix.

Under the terms of the deal, Novartis secures exclusive rights through multiple options to apply the technology to various products. If all options are exercised and all development and commercialization milestones are met, Alteogen is eligible to receive up to $3.223 billion. Additionally, Alteogen will receive royalties based on the net sales of any products commercialized under the agreement. This partnership marks Alteogen’s fourth major licensing deal for its ALT-B4 technology this year.
