Alternatif Bank hosts event to boost Turkish-Gulf economic ties

Alternatif Bank and its major shareholder, Commercial Bank of Qatar (CBQ), organized the “Beyond Borders: Strengthening Turkish Business in the Gulf Region” event to foster economic and commercial ties between Turkey and the Gulf countries. Supported by the Foreign Economic Relations Board of Turkey (DEİK), the initiative aimed to facilitate direct contact between Turkish business representatives and leading financial institutions from the Gulf region.

The event focused on regional investment opportunities, access to finance, cross-border banking, and trade finance solutions. High-level participants included Stephen Moss, Group CEO of Commercial Bank of Qatar; Abdullah Altunkum, President of the DEİK Turkey-Qatar Business Council; Shirish Bhide, CEO of United Arab Bank; and Abdullah Al Hinai, CEO of National Bank of Oman.

Omar Hussain Alfardan, Chairman of the Board of Alternatif Bank, noted that there is strong potential for economic relations to evolve from mere trade into mutual investments and long-term partnerships. He highlighted that Turkey’s production and entrepreneurship capabilities complement the investment capacity and regional connectivity of the Gulf. Stephen Moss added that the regional network involving CBQ, National Bank of Oman, and United Arab Bank is designed to support Turkish companies in accessing finance and expanding into Gulf markets.
