Alterra Mountain Co. appoints Kelly Vohs as new CEO

Alterra Mountain Co., the Denver-based operator of the Ikon Pass, has appointed Kelly Vohs as its new Chief Executive Officer, effective October 19. Vohs succeeds Jared Smith, who announced his departure from the role in March.

Vohs brings extensive experience in hospitality and large-scale operations. He most recently served as CEO of SafetyCulture and previously held leadership roles at LivCor, a Blackstone portfolio company. His background also includes managing operations for BR Guest Hospitality and serving as a Green Beret with the U.S. Army’s 10th Special Forces Group.

The leadership transition comes following a difficult winter season for the Western ski industry and ahead of the 2026-27 ski season. Additionally, Alterra recently reached an agreement with economic development commissions to relocate its headquarters to the former Denver Post building in Denver.
