Altinget Norge to shut down due to economic challenges

Altinget Norge, a niche political news organization established in 2022, is shutting down due to poor economic conditions. The decision was made by owners JP/Politikens Hus and JP/Politiken Business Media, who concluded that a sustainable economic foundation for the niche operation could not be established.

Editor-in-chief Veslemøy Østrem described the decision as “brutal” and “shocking,” noting that the staff believed they would be given more time to succeed. The closure is expected to affect between 20 and 30 employees in Norway. While the Norwegian branch is closing, Altinget's operations in Denmark and Sweden will continue as usual.
