Altino child dies after choking on food during snack

A six-year-old boy died following a choking accident while eating a snack in Altino, in the province of Chieti, Italy. The incident occurred on the afternoon of September 23, when a piece of food, possibly bread, obstructed the child's airway.

After the incident, the child's parents attempted emergency maneuvers and transported him to the Consalvi Hospital in Casoli. Despite the arrival of medical personnel, an ambulance, and a rescue helicopter from Pescara, doctors were unable to revive him.

The family, originally from Colombia, has been a long-time resident of Altino. Local Carabinieri have opened an investigation to clarify the exact dynamics of the event, though current findings point to a domestic accident caused by airway obstruction during a meal. Mayor Vincenzo Muratelli expressed the community's profound grief over the loss of the child.
