Altınordu announces sports investments and leadership changes

Altınordu Mayor Ulaş Tepe has announced significant public sports investments following the city's designation as a 2025 European Sports City. The municipality has allocated a 12-decare area in Cumhuriyet Neighborhood to the Ordu Provincial Directorate of Youth and Sports free of charge for the construction of the ‘Cumhuriyet Sports Complex’. Planned facilities for the complex include a semi-olympic indoor swimming pool, four tennis courts, two basketball courts, a football pitch, walking paths, and a running track.

Simultaneously, Ordu Metropolitan Municipality has undergone a leadership change in its urban planning department. Mesut Yeşiltepe, the Head of the Department of Reconstruction and Urbanization, has been removed from his position amid ongoing disputes regarding zoning plans in Altınordu. The removal follows criticisms regarding frequent court cancellations of zoning plans and the resulting stagnation in the local construction sector. Orhan Demir Alemdar has been appointed as his successor.
