Altınordu Municipality launches historical heritage project in Ordu
The Altınordu Municipality in Ordu has launched an initiative to preserve the city's cultural heritage by installing bilingual information kiosks at significant historical sites. These kiosks, featuring text in both Turkish and English, provide details regarding the history and social significance of various landmarks.
The first phase of the project includes sites such as Sarı Konak, the Saatçi Hafız Hüseyin Efendi Mansion, the Osman Paşa Fountain, and the İdmanyurdu Sports Club. By providing these historical narratives, the municipality aims to enhance local history tourism and ensure that the city's collective memory is passed down to future generations.
Altınordu Mayor Ulaş Tepe stated that protecting a city's history is essential to safeguarding its identity and future. Once the project is complete, the municipality plans to connect these historical structures to create a comprehensive “history route” throughout the city.
