Italy law enforcement conducts widespread drug and crime crackdowns

Law enforcement agencies across Italy have conducted numerous operations targeting drug trafficking, extortion, and tax evasion. In Foggia, police identified over 10,000 individuals and seized 870 kilograms of drugs, including cocaine and heroin, during August. In Rome's Quarticciolo district, seven arrests were made after police discovered drugs hidden in urban infrastructure such as light poles and pipes.

Other significant seizures include nearly 200 kg of marijuana found in an attic in Orotelli and 41 kg of drugs hidden inside a compressor in Chieti Scalo. In Pisa, two brothers were arrested after a confrontation with police involving a machete and a firearm. Additionally, in the Trapani province, the Guardia di Finanza reported that over 52% of inspected businesses were sanctioned for tax evasion during the summer season.

In separate criminal incidents, authorities in Filadelfia arrested a man for extortion, while in Bernalda, a minor was detained for drug possession. Law enforcement also reported several arrests for driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs in the Poggio Mirteto area.
