Italian Alpine Hiking Excursions Spotlight Rifugio Il Bicchiere and Alta Val Brembana Trail

The Rifugio Il Bicchiere, also known as Gino Biasi al Bicchiere, sits at 3,195 m on the southern flank of the Stubai Alps in Alto Adige, Italy. It is the highest mountain refuge in South Tyrol and the Eastern Alps, and it includes the region’s highest chapel, Maria im Schnee. The hike begins at the former Monteneve mine parking area near Vipiteno and follows trail 9 to the refuge, offering well‑prepared facilities and meals despite the extreme altitude.

In August 2026, Arcigay will organize a 15‑km hike through the Alta Val Brembana in Lombardy. The route climbs 700 m along a historic, nature‑focused trail that follows the Brembo River gorge. Participants will pay a €5 contribution plus €12 for vehicle access, and a mandatory membership card is required. The event aims to promote LGBT+ visibility while encouraging outdoor activity.
