Regional sports and infrastructure projects advance in Chile and Mexico

Various regional sports and infrastructure initiatives are underway across Chile and Mexico. In Chile, the 2026 School Sports Games (JDE) have officially commenced in Valparaíso. The Sub-14 National Final features 2,688 students competing in 11 disciplines, supported by a $2.3 billion CLP investment from the National Institute of Sports (IND).

Other Chilean regional developments include a $336 million CLP project to improve the multipurpose gymnasium in Alto Biobío and a $2.6 billion CLP triennial program in Aysén to support regional sports organizations. In the Tarapacá region, the Collahuasi Cup 2026 has brought together over 500 student participants for a football tournament, while a state program has distributed fuel vouchers to over 100 artisanal fishing vessels to offset rising operational costs.

In Mexico, the municipal government of Nuevo Laredo has completed the renovation of the historic Escuadrón 201 Gymnasium at General No. 1 Secondary School. With an investment of over 7.1 million MXN, the project rehabilitated the roof and waterproofing of the facility, which serves as a significant cultural and athletic landmark for the community.
