Alto Hospicio approves $861 million Los Pepinos street paving
The Tarapacá Regional Council approved more than 861 million Chilean pesos to fund the “Conservación calle Los Pepinos” project in Alto Hospicio. The plan will pave roughly 538 metres of Los Pepinos street between Pasaje Los Damascos and Pasaje Los Nogales, improving connectivity for about 9,000 local residents, merchants and fair‑goers in the La Quebradilla area and reducing dust pollution.
Mayor Patricio Ferreira presented the initiative, which received a favorable recommendation from the regional Infrastructure, Investment and Budget Commission. Governor and CORE president José Miguel Carvajal highlighted the work as part of the Special Pavement Plan aimed at enhancing mobility and road safety across Tarapacá. Local community leaders, including neighbourhood board president Ana García, expressed gratitude for the investment, noting the previous poor condition of the road.
