Chile police and municipal forces dismantle illegal street vendors in Alto Hospicio

A coordinated security operation in the Chilean commune of Alto Hospicio targeted illegal street commerce. Carabineros, municipal inspectors, the Agricultural and Livestock Service (SAG) and public safety officials conducted identity checks, vehicle controls and inspections across three high‑traffic areas: Avenida Las Américas, the perimeter of a covered gymnasium and the Las Buganbilias neighborhood.

The action resulted in the seizure of numerous unauthorized food‑service structures, gas cylinders, grills and other equipment, as well as the confiscation of agricultural and meat products that violated sanitary regulations. Authorities also captured a wanted individual with an active arrest warrant. In total, 55 identity checks, 32 vehicle inspections, 7 traffic violations and 5 municipal infractions were recorded.

The operation is part of the municipal security and territorial order plan promoted by Mayor Patricio Ferreira Rivera and local councilors, aiming to restore public order and improve safety for residents and pedestrians.
