Alto Trujillo to hold first municipal elections

The district of Alto Trujillo is set to hold its first-ever municipal elections on October 4, 2026. This historic vote follows the area's official transition from a population center within the El Porvenir district to its own autonomous district.

More than 25,000 eligible voters in Alto Trujillo will elect a mayor and council members to manage local priorities, including public health, citizen security, road infrastructure, and access to potable water. The electoral process is being coordinated by the Decentralized Office of Electoral Processes (ODPE) La Esperanza.

In addition to Alto Trujillo, the ODPE La Esperanza will oversee elections across 14 districts and 16 population centers within the provinces of Trujillo and Otuzco. This broader jurisdiction includes over 400,000 voters participating across 1,377 polling stations. Ángela Quispe Medina, head of ODPE La Esperanza, has urged citizens to vote responsibly and reminded them to use the ONPE web platform to verify if they have been selected as polling station members.
