Altogarda Project installs final canvases in Trentino biotopes

The Altogarda Project has reached a key milestone with the installation of the final canvases within the MUSE biotope and the Leno stream in Rovereto. Led by artist Roberto Ghezzi in collaboration with MUSE (Trento), MART (Rovereto), and MAG (Riva del Garda), the initiative utilizes a technique called ‘Naturografie’.

In this process, fabric and wood canvases are placed in specific aquatic or terrestrial environments, allowing natural sediments to deposit on the surfaces over several weeks to create unique works of art. Following the installation, a team of biologists from MUSE will analyze the canvases to reconstruct the characteristics and identity of the deposited sediments.

The project is scheduled to conclude in the spring of 2027 with a distributed exhibition held across the galleries of MAG, MUSE, and MART.
