Altopascio launches design competition to revamp Via Cavour

The municipality of Altopascio has opened a public competition inviting architects, engineers and other professionals to submit proposals for the regeneration of Via Cavour, the town’s main commercial and cultural thoroughfare. Funding has been earmarked in the municipal operational plan and the call outlines specific requirements for a comprehensive urban‑environmental redesign.

The initiative follows a citizen‑engagement session held on 17 July, organised with Sociolab, and ongoing consultations with local merchants and trade associations. Mayor Sara D’Ambrosio said the project is part of a broader effort to revitalize the town centre, building on recent restorations of historic squares, the Loggiato Mediceo and the upcoming inauguration of the former grain silos as a new museum.
