Altroconsumo white wine test awards top prize to 11 euro bottle
An Altroconsumo test of 36 white wines has concluded, demonstrating that higher price points do not necessarily guarantee superior quality. The Lunae Liguria di Levante IGT Bianco Labianca 2024, priced at approximately 11 euros, earned the title of ‘Best Purchase’ with a score of 87 out of 100.
Produced from Vermentino and Malvasia grapes grown in the Luni plain in the province of La Spezia, the wine was praised by 22 expert judges for its intense fruity and floral aromas, including notes of peach, tropical fruit, and vanilla. Laboratory analysis also noted its low sulfite levels, which were at about one-quarter of the permitted limit.
In the organic category, the Tenuta Santa Lucia Romagna Albana DOCG Secco Albarara 2025 was named the best, scoring 72 out of 100. Judges described this Romagna-based wine as full-bodied and persistent with intense white flower and pear aromas.
