AlUla Royal Commission launches seventh Date Season

The Royal Commission for AlUla has launched the seventh edition of the Date Season as part of the ‘Khairat AlUla’ agricultural festivities for 2026–2027. The season commenced with a date auction held at Al Fursan Village, which will continue on weekends until November 15. This event allows farmers from across the governorate to showcase and sell their crops directly to visitors.

Additionally, a farmers' market in Al Manshiyah is scheduled from September 18 to September 27, providing a platform for local producers, artisans, and families to market various date varieties, local foods, and handicrafts. The season aims to support the economic activity of local farmers and highlight the region's deep agricultural heritage.

AlUla's date palm cultivation is a significant historical and economic activity, with more than 4.2 million palm trees covering 16,484 hectares. The region produces approximately 130,000 tons of dates annually, including varieties such as Barni, Anbara, Safawi, Hamra, and Medjool. The season also seeks to preserve traditional practices like ‘Jad Al-Nakhil’, the local term for the ancestral method of harvesting ripe dates.
