Alvaro Morata discusses Leganés move and VAR

Alvaro Morata has addressed his recent transfer to Leganés, describing the move as a “choice of pure courage” driven by a stimulating professional project rather than a desire to be near Madrid. The striker noted that while he had offers from clubs competing in European competitions, he is motivated by the goal of helping Leganés achieve promotion to La Liga, a challenge he likened to his “personal Champions League.”

Reflecting on his career, Morata also shared his views on the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) system, stating that he preferred football without it. He argued that the technology complicates the game by mixing referee opinions with multiple perspectives in the VAR room, noting that human error was a natural factor of the sport in the past.

Additionally, Morata defended his impact during his time at Como, asserting that he was more decisive for the team than public perception suggested. He emphasized that his primary objective has always been to work for the collective and support his teammates.
