Alvin Kamara expected to miss significant time with knee injury

New Orleans Saints running back Alvin Kamara is expected to miss at least one month after suffering a sprained MCL during a joint practice with the Dallas Cowboys. While Kamara avoided torn ligaments, the injury likely sidelines him for the remainder of the preseason and potentially the start of the regular season, which begins on September 13.

In Kamara's absence, the Saints' backfield will rely on offseason acquisition Travis Etienne, along with Kendre Miller and Devin Neal. The team also faces other roster challenges, including cornerback Quincy Riley, who is projected to miss several weeks with a groin injury, and rookie wide receiver Jordyn Tyson, who is expected to be out for at least two months with a hamstring injury.

Separately, the NFL has fined both the Saints and the Cowboys $500,000 each following a joint practice session that included multiple scuffles and physical altercations. Coaches described the practice as “chippy” and characterized the incidents as “non football” activities.
