Alvin Kamra stays with New Orleans Saints after contract restructure
Running back Alvin Kamara will remain with the New Orleans Saints for the 2026 season after agreeing to a restructured contract, his agent Brad Cicala told NFL Network. The terms were not disclosed, but the deal is expected to reduce the cap hit of his previous $24.5 million extension. Cicala said, “Alvin’s goal, and the team’s goal, was for him to remain with the Saints and retire a Saint.”
Kamara, 31, posted career‑low numbers last year because of knee and ankle injuries, appearing in only 11 games and rushing for 471 yards with one touchdown. The Saints meanwhile signed fellow running back Travis Etienne to a four‑year, $48 million contract, positioning Etienne as the primary back. Kamara indicated there is “no beef or bad blood” with the organization and is prepared to contribute in a reduced role.
A five‑time Pro Bowler and the franchise’s all‑time leading rusher, Kamara’s continued presence adds veteran leadership as New Orleans rebuilds around second‑year quarterback Tyler Shough.
