Alytus City Theatre announces playwright competition and children's festival

The Alytus City Theatre has announced several upcoming cultural events as part of its seasonal programming and the COM•MEDIA international theatre festival.

The theatre is launching its 12th national playwrights competition, inviting creators from across Lithuania to submit unpublished works. The competition, which accepts various genres including comedies and one-act plays, aims to foster dialogue with modern audiences. A professional commission will evaluate submissions, with winners to be announced during the COM•MEDIA festival. Submissions are being accepted until August 3, 2026.

Additionally, the COM•@ children's festival returns for its ninth edition from October 13–15. The program features ten theatrical events designed for young audiences, including musical performances, interactive plays, and specialized shows for infants and neurodiverse children. Featured productions include Keistuolių Theatre’s ‘Tip Top’ and performances by the Klaipėda Youth Theatre.
