Alytus district celebrates third Linine dinner and 15‑year community milestone

The third Linine (Linen) dinner was held in Poceloni, Alytus district, bringing together residents from Alytus, Daugų, Kančėnų, Alovės, Druskininkų and Šilutė. The event marked the 15th anniversary of the Perkūnkalnis community and the 95th anniversary of the historic Poceloni school, now serving as the community centre.

Community chair Aldona Jankauskienė thanked the Alytus district municipality for supporting the tradition. District mayor Rasa Vitkauskienė and deputy mayor Aurimas Truncė attended, praising the locals’ initiative, sincerity and commitment to preserving regional customs. The evening featured the choir Sutaras, folk songs, dancing and participants dressed in linen garments, underscoring the value of shared heritage and togetherness.
