Alytus district schools undergo major renovations before new school year

Mayor Rasa Vitkauskienė visited schools in Alytus district as the municipality completed a wave of repairs and modernisation ahead of the September start. Work includes replacing old radiators, upgrading electrical systems, installing new ceilings and flooring, repairing stair‑case tiles and repainting walls. New safety railings and a rest area near cafeterias are being added.

Sports halls at several schools are being refurbished with specialised shock‑absorbing flooring to lower injury risk, while gym roofs and walls are repaired. Cafeterias are being remodelled to allow on‑site food preparation, with expanded kitchen and sanitary facilities. The upgrades aim to provide students and teachers with a safer, more comfortable and contemporary environment for learning and extracurricular activities.
