Alytus launches CITI4UD urban development initiative

The Alytus City Municipality is launching a drawing competition titled ‘Let’s Create Alytus!’ as part of the CITI4UD project under the URBACT program. The initiative aims to engage children in envisioning the future of their city to foster civic responsibility and community engagement from a young age.

In addition to Alytus, children from five other European cities are participating in the project: Alghero (Italy), Ambelokipi-Menemeni (Greece), Rivas-Vaciamadrid (Spain), Dublin (Ireland), Chimișlia (Moldova), and Podilsk (Ukraine). The program also seeks to involve parents to encourage broader community participation in making cities more attractive and responsive to resident needs.

Mayor Nerijus Cesiulis, who attended the international network meeting in Greece, emphasized that urban development is a collective effort involving all residents of the Dzūkija capital.
