Alytus library to host documentary film screening
The Jurgis Kunčinas Public Library in Alytus will host a free screening of the documentary film “(Ne)pusiausvyros elementai” (Elements of(f) Balance) on November 4 at 17:00. Directed by Othmar Schmiderer, the 2025 Austrian production explores nature's ability to regenerate and adapt.
The film examines various global ecological efforts, ranging from recovering forests in Central Europe and floating gardens in Bangladesh to large-scale restoration projects in China. It highlights how natural processes can drive innovation in sectors such as agriculture and architecture, encouraging viewers to seek sustainable solutions by working in harmony with the environment.
The screening is part of the “Sengirės kinas” project, which connects cinema with environmental education. Inspired by the impact of Mindaugas Survila’s film “Sengirė” on the protection of old-growth forests in Lithuania, the initiative features monthly documentary screenings across more than 80 screens throughout the country. The project is partially funded by the Lithuanian Film Centre and VšĮ “Virtuoliai”.
