Alytus participates in European STEAM education project
The Alytus City Municipality has participated in the URBACT program's ‘Future STEAM Cities’ project, a two-year initiative aimed at strengthening digital competencies and STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics) education methodologies.
The project involved a network of five European cities: Aveiro (Portugal), Oulu (Finland), Alytus (Lithuania), Kolding (Denmark), and Plock (Poland). With a total budget of 550,000 EUR, of which 422,435 EUR was provided by European Union funding, the initiative focused on adapting innovative practices originally developed through the ‘Aveiro STEAM City’ project.
Through international meetings, workshops, and seminars, representatives from Alytus shared local experiences and adopted proven methods to address urban challenges such as talent attraction, innovation promotion, and digitalization. The project aims to translate these international collaborative formats into practical applications within local schools and communities.
