Alza.hu crowned Hungary's biggest e‑commerce retailer as online shopping surges
Alza.hu was awarded the titles of Hungary’s largest online retailer and the “Most Orders Served” e‑commerce operator, according to PwC’s Digital Commerce Landscape. The company highlighted its nationwide AlzaBox locker network, flexible delivery options, credit‑free installments and the AlzaPlus+ loyalty program as drivers of customer trust.
PwC data show Hungarian online retail turnover reaching about 2.1 trillion forints in 2025, up 9.3% year‑on‑year and ten times the level of 2015. Domestic e‑commerce generated over 1.7 trillion forints, while foreign platforms accounted for nearly 400 billion. Consumers placed 123 million orders, 94 million from local retailers and 24 million from imports. Chinese platform Temu alone fulfilled 13 million orders, with about 2.5 million Hungarians having bought from it. Approximately 4.4 million people shop online at least once a year, a quarter of whom are regular buyers responsible for roughly 80% of the market’s revenue.
