Alzheimer Gesellschaft Baden-Württemberg highlights early-onset dementia

In observance of World Alzheimer's Day on September 21, 2026, the Alzheimer Gesellschaft Baden-Württemberg is highlighting that dementia is not exclusively a condition of old age. The organization is drawing attention to the specific challenges faced by younger individuals diagnosed with dementia and their families.

In Germany, approximately 1.8 million people are living with dementia, including over 100,000 individuals between the ages of 45 and 64 who are classified as having early-onset dementia. Those diagnosed before age 65 often face unique pressures, such as maintaining professional careers and managing financial and caregiving responsibilities for their families while navigating the disease.
