In Spain, the Confederation of Alzheimer's and other Dementias (CEAFA) is actively campaigning for the public health system to fund new treatments, specifically lecanemab and donanemab, which can slow disease progression in early stages. Meanwhile, medical experts emphasize that biological changes in the brain can begin up to 20 years before clinical symptoms appear, making early diagnosis and biomarker research critical.

Research indicates that up to 45% of dementia cases could be prevented or delayed through lifestyle interventions, such as managing blood pressure, diabetes, and maintaining physical and mental activity. As the global population ages, the economic and social burden is expected to grow significantly, with dementia costs potentially reaching $2.8 trillion by 2030.
