Alzheimer’s research advances with new drugs and community health initiatives

Recent advancements in Alzheimer’s research offer new hope for managing the disease, which affects more than 7 million Americans. The FDA has approved two drugs, lecanemab and donanemab, which target amyloid plaques in the brain. These treatments aim to slow cognitive decline by addressing the amyloid hypothesis.

In observance of World Alzheimer’s Day, Eli Lilly and Company and Planet Harvest are distributing over 1,300 produce boxes to food-insecure and underserved seniors in Metro Detroit. These boxes, containing items such as leafy greens, fruits, and vegetables, are intended to promote brain health and support healthy aging through nutrition.
