Alzira launches Elisa Torremocha Illustration Prize
The Alzira City Council, through its Culture Department headed by councilor Israel Pérez, has announced the first edition of the Elisa Torremocha Illustration Prize. The award, named after the former director of the Casa de la Cultura who led the institution for three decades and died in October 2023, aims to promote contemporary illustration and highlight Alzira’s cultural heritage.
Open to any adult artist regardless of nationality, participants must submit an original, unpublished work between 15 August and 10 September 2026. The winning piece will receive a €1,000 cash prize, and a selection of entries will be exhibited during the 2026 Jornades d'Il·lustració d'Alzira. Entrants are asked to illustrate the iconic Escoles Pies street, the historic location of the illustration days and the Casa de la Cultura.
The prize is part of the broader illustration festival’s effort to preserve the memory of Elisa Torremocha and inspire new generations of creators in Alzira.
