Amadora Mayor accuses PSD and Chega of creating institutional blockages

The Mayor of Amadora, Vítor Ferreira (PS), has accused the PSD and Chega parties of forming a ‘negative coalition’ aimed at creating institutional blockages. This follows a decision to revoke the Mayor's authority to authorize public procurement expenditures up to approximately 748,000 euros.

The proposal, supported by the Amadora Resolve coalition and Chega, mandates that the Municipal Chamber reassume direct responsibility for contracts involving the acquisition of goods, services, and public works. Ferreira warned that this shift from executive delegation to chamber-level decision-making will cause delays in essential city services, ranging from school cleaning supplies to major construction projects.
