Amaia Montero faces vocal criticism and online harassment

Amaia Montero, the lead singer of La Oreja de Van Gogh, has faced significant scrutiny following recent performances during the band’s reunion tour. During a concert on October 9 in Zaragoza, Spain, attendees and social media users raised concerns regarding her vocal pitch and ability to maintain certain notes, specifically during the song ‘Puedes contar conmigo’.

In addition to critiques of her vocal performance, Montero has been the target of intense body-shaming and fatphobic attacks on social media platforms following the Zaragoza show. While some fans defended her, noting that live performances can encounter technical and vocal difficulties, others used the platform to post offensive comments regarding her physical appearance.

Montero previously addressed her return to the stage during a concert in Bilbao, describing her journey back to music as a personal struggle through dark times. The band has scheduled further tour dates, including a return to Mexico in 2027.
