Amaia Montero responds to social media criticism of her appearance
Spanish singer Amaia Montero has addressed recent social media criticism regarding her physical appearance and fashion choices. Following her performance at the Fiestas del Pilar in Zaragoza with La Oreja de Van Gogh, clips of her wearing a black dress went viral, leading some users to question her image and styling.
Rather than engaging in direct confrontation, Montero responded via Instagram with an ironic musical reference. She posted a relaxed photograph accompanied by the lyric, “Siempre tuve la frente muy alta, la lengua muy larga y la falda muy corta” (I always had a very high forehead, a very long tongue, and a very short skirt), a line from Joaquín Sabina’s song “19 días y 500 noches.”
The gesture comes during a significant period in her career as she reunites with La Oreja de Van Gogh for a tour that began in May 2026.
