Amakusa Police warn of SNS-based investment fraud

The Amakusa Police Station has issued a warning regarding SNS-based investment fraud targeting residents within its jurisdiction. Between early and mid-July, victims were lured by investment advertisements on social media.

Once victims engaged with the advertisers, they were directed to websites displaying fraudulent cryptocurrency exchanges or fake profit reports. These sites were used to deceive individuals into transferring money under the guise of investment capital.

The police advise the public to remain skeptical of investment opportunities involving cryptocurrency from social media contacts, to disregard advertisements featuring celebrities, and to be wary of promises of guaranteed high returns.
