Amalfi Coast wildfire threatens SS163 highway near Tordigliano

A significant wildfire has broken out on the Amalfi Coast near Tordigliano, threatening the SS163 highway and moving toward Positano. The fire has developed in a delicate area characterized by dense vegetation and difficult terrain, specifically affecting the stretch between Tordigliano, Sella di Arola, and Chiosse.

The blaze is fueled by dry vegetation and high temperatures, exacerbated by a lack of significant rainfall. Firefighters from the Piano di Sorrento detachment are currently working to contain the flames and prevent them from blocking the vital road artery that connects the Sorrento Peninsula to the Amalfi Coast. This incident follows previous fires in the Maiori, Tramonti, and Ravello areas, and mirrors a fire that occurred in the same location in 2024.
