Amalfi launches operational phase for FAO agricultural heritage system

The Amalfi agricultural system is entering an operational phase following its 2025 designation by the FAO as a Globally Important Agricultural Heritage System (GIAHS). To manage this recognition, the Municipality of Amalfi has scheduled the first assembly of the GIAHS Community for October 9, 2026.

The meeting aims to select six representatives from local landowners and farmers to join a Management Committee. This committee will work alongside representatives from the Campania Region, the Monti Lattari Park, the Municipality of Amalfi, and the Center for Amalfi Culture and History to implement an Action Plan for the dynamic conservation and monitoring of the area's agricultural heritage and characteristic terraces.

Additionally, the assembly will announce the results of the municipal funding process for active agriculture, which provides non-repayable grants to local farmers.
