AMANAC appoints new director and announces maritime institute
The Mexican Association of Shipping Agents (AMANAC) has appointed Captain Paulino Morán Quesada as its new Director General, effective October 20, 2026. Morán Quesada, a former Director General of the Merchant Marine for the Secretariat of the Navy (SEMAR), succeeds Miguel Ángel Andrade Gómez, who is retiring after 35 years with the organization.
To address the shortage of trained personnel in the growing foreign trade and port sectors, AMANAC will launch the AMANAC Institute in January 2027. The academic center will offer technical training and master's level specialization programs focused on maritime management, agency, and logistics.
The institute aims to train between 70 and 100 students per semester. Supported by educational authorities, the programs will include technical maritime English to facilitate international contract negotiations. Through partnerships with regional organizations, the institute intends to extend its educational offerings across Latin America via online formats.
