Eintracht Frankfurt has announced the departure of sports director Markus Krösche, who requested to be released from his duties. Krösche, who was instrumental in the club’s recent successes including the 2022 Europa League title, expressed a desire for the club to receive a fresh impulse.

Axel Hellmann, the newly appointed club chairman, will temporarily oversee the sports department on an interim basis. Hellmann stated that the search for a permanent successor is expected to take weeks rather than months. He emphasized the need for a sports director who can implement a style of football characterized by intensity and aggression.

While Krösche’s departure follows internal discussions regarding transfer policies and coaching decisions, he is reportedly being linked with a move to AC Milan. The club's supervisory board is responsible for the final decision regarding the restructuring of the sports leadership role.
