Amanda Anisimova to miss tennis until 2027 due to injury
American tennis player Amanda Anisimova has announced that her season is over due to a wrist injury. The former world number three stated on social media that the injury is more serious than initially expected, and she does not anticipate returning to competition until 2027.
Anisimova’s recent seasons have been hampered by recurring wrist issues, including a withdrawal from the WTA 1000 in Madrid. The extended absence, combined with the loss of points from the WTA Finals and her title defense in Beijing, puts her current standing in the Top 20 at risk.
In addition to her physical recovery, Anisimova has addressed public scrutiny regarding her physical appearance. She categorically denied social media speculation that she has used weight-loss medications like Ozempic, attributing her physical conditioning to intensive training with coach Hendrik Verwoerd and a plant-based diet focused on endurance and injury prevention.
