Amanda Hibbert Chooses Travel Over Inheritance
Amanda Hibbert, a 63‑year‑old resident of Halifax in West Yorkshire, has decided to use the bulk of her modest private pension savings – roughly £30‑£50 k – for travel rather than preserving an inheritance for her children. She has already visited Australia, Bali and Italy and plans several more trips while she remains in good health.
Her adult children, aged 28 and 25, back the decision, saying they prefer shared experiences now over future financial gifts. Hibbert, who spent three decades working part‑time in insurance before moving to full‑time youth‑care work, acknowledges the pension risk but stresses the belief that “we only live once.”
