Amanda Hirsch apologizes for insensitive trial-related advertisement
Podcaster Amanda Hirsch, host of ‘Not Skinny But Not Fat’ and Hulu’s ‘Get Real’, has issued an apology following backlash for a sponsored advertisement involving the Lindsay Clancy trial. Hirsch posted content in partnership with the prediction market platform Polymarket, which highlighted a prediction that the verdict in the Clancy case would be ‘Not Guilty’.
The advertisement was posted after a Massachusetts jury declared a mistrial in the case of Lindsay Clancy, who is accused of killing her three children. Clancy’s defense has argued that her actions were the result of severe postpartum psychosis.
In an apology posted to Instagram, Hirsch described the partnership as ‘completely insensitive, wrong, and out of character’. She stated that she had become so consumed by the tragic nature of the trial that she lost perspective and made a ‘terrible judgment call’. Hirsch has since deleted the original post.
