Amanda Knox debuts ‘Cartwheel’ at Edinburgh Fringe Festival

Amanda Knox has debuted her one-woman show, ‘Cartwheel’, at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. The performance aims to use comedy to explore personal trauma and motherhood following the 2007 murder of Meredith Kercher.

Critical reception has been mixed, primarily regarding the show's classification. While The Guardian praised the respectful attempt to reclaim her narrative, other outlets like The Times and The Daily Telegraph questioned the stand-up comedy framing, suggesting the material lacks comedic timing and functions more as an autobiographical one-woman show.

The production has faced backlash from the Kercher family. Stephanie Kercher expressed concerns that the show might ‘normalize and trivialize’ violence against women. Prior to the 11-day run at Gilded Balloon Teviot, a petition was launched by a friend of Meredith Kercher to protest the show's perceived disrespect toward her memory.
