Amanda Knox debuts controversial comedy show in Edinburgh

A petition signed by over 10,000 people called for the show's cancellation, with critics arguing that the performance trivializes the 2007 murder of her former roommate, Meredith Kercher.

Stephanie Kercher, Meredith's sister, publicly condemned the show, expressing fear that it would normalize violence against women. In response, Knox stated on Instagram that the show is about motherhood and honoring Kercher's memory while calling out violence.

Audience members defended the performance, describing it as emotional and respectful. The Fringe Society director, Tony Lankester, defended the decision to stage the show, noting that the festival provides an open-access platform without censorship, despite acknowledging the family's pain.
