Amanda Lear accuses Miley Cyrus of song plagiarism
Amanda Lear has ironicaly accused Miley Cyrus of plagiarizing her 1978 song, ‘The Sphinx’, in Cyrus’s new track, ‘Redlights’. Lear remarked, “Thanks, Miley, for this tribute to my song The Sphinx. I feel flattered.”
While YouTube comparisons highlight similarities between the choruses, some observers note that both melodies bear a resemblance to the central part of ‘El Cóndor Pasa’, a piece composed by a Peruvian author in 1913.
Lear, a well-known figure in France and Italy with disco hits such as ‘Follow me’ and ‘Run, baby, run’, is also recognized for her historical associations with Salvador Dalí and Gala.
