Amanda Miller sentenced to 17 years for leading Arizona drug trafficking ring

Amanda Rachelle Miller, known as the ‘Queen of the South,’ has been sentenced to 17 years in federal prison for leading a large-scale drug trafficking organization. For approximately three years, Miller operated as a fugitive from Culiacán, Sinaloa, Mexico, while directing an enterprise that distributed fentanyl, methamphetamine, and other controlled substances into Arizona.

Prosecutors stated that Miller coordinated couriers, arranged bulk drug deliveries, and managed money laundering operations involving dozens of participants. She also claimed responsibility for the concept of ‘rainbow fentanyl’—brightly colored pills used as a marketing strategy to boost sales, a tactic the DEA notes specifically targets children and young adults.

Several co-conspirators have also received prison sentences, including Alberto Gabriel Aranda-Ramon, who received 16.5 years, and Michele Oller and Rodrigo Lopez-Lozoya, who each received 10 years. Federal investigators seized $441,815 in proceeds related to the operation.
